Abstract

992,000. Idler rollers for conveyer belts. M. B. McCULLAGH. April 14, 1964 [May 15, 1963], No. 15481/64. Heading B8A. A roller for a conveyer belt comprises a number of cup-shaped mouldings 4, 5, 5<SP>1</SP> of reinforced synthetic resin material cemented on a metal sprindle 3 e.g. by an epoxy resin adhesive. The mouldings, 4, 51 have an internal step 7 which mates with an external step 8 around the mouldings 5 and the steps are cemented together. Ball races in re-entrant portions 10 of the end mouldings 4 are cemented to the tube 3. Annular ribs or rings may be formed on the mouldings 5, 51. The roller may form part of a troughing roller set, and the wing rollers may have sections attached to the outer ends 5 of the rollers which are recessed to receive and support rack teeth provided in the underside of the belt edges. Rollers of varying lengths may be assembled.
