Abstract

991,927. Switches held set and freed mechanically. K. MAECKER. Sept. 26, 1961 [Oct. 22, 1960], No. 34470/61. Heading H2B. A push-button switch has a safety lock built into the push-button part which is locked in its depressed " operated " or " OFF " position by spring-loaded bolts 16 entering apertures 20 in a sleeve 7 surrounding the casing 6 of the pushbutton. An unlocking key 21 is inserted into the body 22 of the safety lock and rotated to cause an unlocking ring 8 to cam bolts 16 radially outwardly, thereby allowing a spring 4 to restore the push-button to its raised " ready for operation " or " ON " position. Depression of the mushroom-shaped head 3 of the pushbutton moves a bolt 5 to operate the switch, the downward stroke of the bolt being limited by a sprung ring 14 in a broadened extension 9 of the bolt engaging a base 11 inserted in the pushbutton housing 1. The bolts 16 are arranged in an annular member 15 held in the housing 1 by a sprung ring 18. The push-button, between its head 3 and its housing 1, has a rubber boot 24 which protects the push-button from external dirt.
