Abstract
A process for the purification of glucose syrup or dextrose juice includes the step of subjecting the syrup or juice at a pH between 3.5 and 60 to a preliminary purification in a centrifugal separator to form at least two fractions, a lighter fraction containing a substantial portion of the proteins and fats contained as solid impurities in the starting material and at least one heavier fraction comprising the bulk of the liquid phase, the said fractions being separately removed from the separator. The starting material may be obtained by the saccharification of starch obtained from cereals and chopped fruits by hydrolysis or enzymatic processes.
