Abstract
991,440. Spark apparatus. FERRANTI Ltd. Feb. 19, 1964 [Feb. 23, 1963], No. 7383/63. Heading H1D. A triggered spark-gap comprises a body 1 of electrically non-conductive material containing a bore, an anode 3 and a cathode 4 mounted at opposite ends of said bore, and at least one trigger electrode 9 contained in a cavity 8 which opens into said bore intermediate said anode and cathode. A filling tube 6 is provided. In the arrangement shown four trigger electrodes 9 are spaced equiangularly around the body 1 which is of ceramic and are sealed thereto by cup-shaped members 10. The anode 3 and cathode 4 are of copper. Alternatively a single trigger electrode in the form of an annulus may be provided in a cavity, in the body 1.
