Abstract

991,377. Aerial masts. MARCONI CO. Ltd. Feb. 26, 1964 [March 18, 1963], No. 10526/63. Heading E1B. An aerial mast comprises telescoping sections 12, 13, 14, extended by pneumatic or hydraulic pressure and mechanically locked in the extended position by catches 17 which are secured to the upper end of each section and are released by guys 21, 22. As described, a pneumatic mast is provided with poppet valves between the sections and with three catches at the end of each section, each valve being opened by the locking engagement of the catches so that the sections extend one after the other. A vertical downwards pull on the guy unlocks each catch. The mast may be mounted on a vehicle.
