Abstract

990,705. Brackets. GRAY & CAMPLING Ltd. Dec. 5, 1963 [Oct. 5, 1962], No. 37799/62. Heading A4B. [Also in Division F4] An electric lamp especially an automobile inspection lamp, comprises at its base an electromagnet with a flat undersurface of substantial area and an upstanding support rigidly attached to the base on which is mounted a holder for an electric lamp bulb. In one form, the magnetic base 1 carries a screw threaded projection 2, Fig. 2, on which is mounted a screw threaded sleeve 3 to receive the end of a support 4 carrying a socket 6 for a lamp 8 protected by a wire cage 13. A cover 5 fits over the sleeve 3 and is held in place by the support 4. It may carry a switch 14. In a modification, the support 4 may be flexible but semi-rigid and may carry a reflector for the lamp. In a further modification, the support 4 may be provided with a swivel head consisting of two halves 15, 16, Fig. 5, united by screws. A groove 18 in each half engages a rib 19 on the support so that the head can be rotated thereon. The upper ends of the parts 15, 16 are toothed to grip a toothed ring 22 carrying the lamp socket. A circuit arrangement for producing either a steady or a flashing light is also described.
