Abstract

990,230. Gas adsorption apparatus. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 15, 1961 [Aug. 24, 1960], No. 29261/60. Heading B1L. The invention comprises gas adsorption apparatus having a column of solid adsorbent 14 enclosed between an impervious shell 6 and at least one vertical heat transfer tube 1 adapted to contain a source of heat or convey a heating medium therethrough, said shell having fluid flow connections 15 and 16 to admit process gas and purge gas, and said heat transfer tube and said shell extending beyond the adsorbent column at at least one end thereof. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, to which the above numerals refer, the heat transfer tube may be fitted with fins 10 and 11. The apparatus may be used to separate water vapour from air, or carbon dioxide from mixtures with nitrogen. Molecular sieve adsorbents may be used.
