Abstract
A liquefied gas, such as nitrogen, is purified by eliminating its associated vapour in an outstantingly simple and robust separator. The separator comprises a cylindrical chamber with its axis inclined at 20 degrees to 60 degrees to the horizontal, a mixt inlet in the top end and a liq. outlet near the lower end; a vapour outlet vent projects through the upper side of the chamber and its open end is chamfered on the side opposite to the mixt inlet, so the vent pipe presents a baffle to influent mixts. the longitudinal cross-section of the chamber is at least ten times the area of the mixt inlet pipe bore.
