Abstract
988,456. Loud-speaker enclosures. J. P. DUDOGNON. Feb. 12, 1963 [Feb. 13, 1962] No. 5764/63. Headings H4J and H4X. A loud-speaker housing comprises a chamber having a loudspeaker mounted on one wall thereof with its rear side facing the interior of the chamber and baffles defining a passage of varying cross-section within the chamber such that two ends of the passage are adjacent the rear side of the loud-speaker whereby sound waves entering these ends are damped. A treble and bass loud-speaker 13 and 3 respectively are mounted on a front wall 2a of the enclosure. A passage 4, 5, 9, 7 is defined by the baffles shown, its ends 4, 7 being adjacent the rear side of speaker 3. Breather holes 11 having an adjustable impedance member 12 associated therewith are located in the rear wall 2b of the chamber and a baffle 9a provided with a hole 9b therein directs some of the sound energy present at part 9 of the passage via a reflector (10, Figs. 1, 3, not shown) towards the front of the enclosure. It is stated that the output level is substantially constant over a range of 20-12,000 c.p.s.
