Abstract

987,815. Mineral mining machines. N. J. MUSCHAMP & CO. Ltd. Feb. 10, 1964 [April 18, 1963], No. 15229/63. Heading E1F. Secured to the curved periphery of a rotatable cutter drum 2 of a mineral-mining machine are spaced mountings 5 on which pick boxes 4 are disposed to present cutter picks located in the boxes in one helical manner and mined mineralguiding faces 5g in another helical manner. The helices H6-H7 along which the faces 5g are spaced have a greater inclination to the axis of rotation of the drum than the helices H1-H5 along which the picks are spaced. A precutting shearer disc arrangement is formed at the free end of the drum by vanes 7 spaced along a circular path and carrying pick boxes disposed at differing inclinations to the vanes.
