Abstract
987,748. Electromagnets. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Jan. 2, 1964, No. 212/64. Heading H1P. [Also in Division H2] Armature slack and bounce in an electromagnet is reduced by resiliently mounting magnetic structure 1 on leaf spring 2 and by providing at least one pair of pre-stressed resilient elements 6 which apply opposed forces to the structure in a direction transverse to the main movement so that they act both as guides and frictional dampers for this movement. The members 6 may be helical springs, leaf springs or an elastic member, of rubber or resilient plastics material. The bearing faces of outer core legs 7 may be covered with frictional material. If leaf springs are used, they are clipped over projections on casing 3 and have their axis either parallel or transverse to the direction of main movement. The movement of the structure may be adjusted by inserting shims in slot 5. The resilient members may extend above the face of the core to act as guides and dampers for the armature (not shown).
