Abstract

986,880. Hose connectors. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. March 29, 1962 [April 6, 1961], No. 15146/64. Divided out of 972,867. Heading F2G. A hose connector for a hair drier cap 5 comprises a plastic collar 10 into which a plastic hose 9 extends and having a movable latch 37 thereon which is biased to a closed position when the collar is inserted into an apertured member 35, an integral portion 10<SP>1</SP> being formed on the collar for retaining the latch element in assembled position with respect to the collar. As shown, the portions 10<SP>1</SP> of reduced thickness permit inward flexing of the member 37 by finger pressure and the member 37 is returned to the locking position shown in Fig. 4 by the natural resiliency of the material of which the collar is made; the spiral reinforcing spring 41 of the hose 9 provides additional biasing force. A second catch 40 is integrally formed on the collar. In modifications, (a) opposite sides of the collar are formed with axially extending notches in which latch members 37 are disposed, and (b) the latch members have tabs 56, Fig. 8, engaged in grooves 57 and are biased radially outwardly by a U-shaped spring 58.
