Abstract

985,820. Electrically heated recording instrument pens. A. CASTELLI. June 27, 1961 [Sept. 6, 1960], No. 23296/61. Heading B6P. [Also in Division G1] An electrically-heated pen for a recording apparatus has a stem 3 formed from a thin stainless steel tube covered by a thin copper plating 4 (either on the inside or outside surface) which acts as a current conductor. An insulated copper wire 5 runs through the stem 3 into the body 1 of the pen and to one of the current terminals 2. The extremity 6 of the wire 5 is without insulation and is connected to the extremity 8 of the pen point 7 thereby completing the electric circuit between the terminals 2. At the pen point 7 the crosssection is approximately 75% of the crosssuction of the rest of the pen and constitutes the hot point proper of the pen. The pen point 7 is approximately 5 to 6 millimetres long, and is not plated in copper as is the stem 3.
