Abstract
985,301. Parachutes. G.Q. PARACHUTE CO. Ltd. July 6, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 23623/60. Heading B7G. A parachute canopy includes a plurality of gores, each of said gores being made up of a plurality of panels of fabrics of different porosities, the panels being sewn to one another to form a plurality of panel seams, the gores being joined to one another to form a plurality of gore seams, the panel seams in adjacent gores being on the cross of the material, the inclination of the panel seams to the gore seams being reversed in any pair of adjacent gores forming a plurality of zig-zag zones of fabric, each zone being of a single porosity extending around the canopy, at least two of said zones being made of high-porosity fabric, separated by at least one zone made of lowporosity fabric. The canopy is composed of a plurality of triangular gores 30 each built up by a series of panels 31-35 joined together by seams 36 on the cross of the material, so that the inclination of the panels seams 36 to the gore seams 37 in any adjacent pair of gores is reversed. Zones 31, 33 and 35 of low or highporosity fabric are separated by zones 32, 34 of low porosity fabric, the zones extending round the canopy. Vent rings for use with the canopy are described. Specifications 722,422, 742,417 and 895,865 are referred to.
