A tractor/trailer combination modifies the apparatus of Specification 823,584 which is referred to, by arranging that the short shaft 48, Fig. 3, about which the trailer may tilt is disposed at a level above the rear end of the forked beam 25 joining the goose necked trailer to the tractor at pivot points 30, which points lie on an axis below but parallel to the tractor rear axle 33. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, the beam 60 is rearwardly and upwardly cranked and carries a block 61 which includes rigid members 62, 63 carrying bearings 64 for the shaft 48. The shaft is secured in a bored boss at the end of the pillar 37 by a bolt 67. Further embodiments are also described and shown for mounting the shaft above the rear end of the beam.
