Abstract

985,166. Lightning arresters. DALE ELECTRONICS Inc. Nov. 6, 1963, No. 43889/63. Heading H2H. A surge arrester comprises one or two spiral electrodes 25, 26 decreasing in diameter, as they extend in one direction, mounted in a cylindrical electrode 23 inside a coil 21 connected at one end to the electrode 23 and the other connected to an earthed cylindrical third electrode 27 carrying the coil and spaced from the outer edge of electrode 23 by insulating material 22. A cylindrical outer housing 19 is carried by transparent discs 17. In a modification only one spiral electrode is used.
