Abstract

984,844. Gas filters and adsorbers. VOKES Ltd. Jan. 30, 1964 [Jan. 30, 1963], No. 3830/63. Headings B1L and BIT. In a filter for gases, a granular filter medium is contained in cells between two foraminous plates 3, 4, which cells are formed solely by strips 1 bonded to the plates. Preferably the strips 1 slope as shown, so that by-passing of the gas is prevented when the granular medium packs down. Similar dividing strips at right angles to the strips 1 may also slope with respect to the plates 3, 4. The strips may be of metal, plastic, or cardboard and the foraminous walls of perforated or expanded metal or plastic, paper, felt, or woven cloth. The filter element may be formed as a panel or in cylindrical shape. The granular medium may be activated charcoal for the removal of noxious vapours and odours from gases.
