Abstract

1449119 HCl gas filter D A G MARSHALL 15 Oct 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 50865/72 Headings BIT and B1W A gas filter for removing hydrochloric acid by absorption from gas streams has inserts 12, 14, 16, of honeycomb frame shape, the cells of at least one of which are filled with granules of a substance, other than activated carbon capable of absorbing HCl and the cells of another of which contain activated carbon. The inserts have their cells closed by screens 26, 28, 30, 32, which have strips 34 of fusible material which bond inserts and screens together; the whole is carried in frame 10 e.g. of aluminium or plastics material. The inserts are offset so that upstream cell walls intersect openings of downstream cells. Four filled assemblies 10 may be set in "W" formation (Fig. 5 not shown) in a duct having auxilary filter sheets (e.g. pleated) upstream and downstream of the "W" and having a fan.
