Abstract

Naphthalene derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0984306/C2/1> (wherein R stands for a branched-chain propyl or butyl group) and non-toxic, pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts thereof are prepared by the hydrolysis of an aroyl derivative of the said naphthalene derivatives, optionally followed by acid addition salt formation. N-aroyl derivitive starting materials are prepared by reducing the corresponding 2-N-aroylaminoacetypnaphthalene derivatives, the latter being prepared by aroylation of the corresponding 2-aminoacetylnaphthalene derivatives. 2 - N - isopropylaminoacetylnaphthalene hydrobromide is prepared by reacting 2-naphthacyl bromide with isopropylamine in ethanol.
