Abstract
983,727. Pipes and tubes; bearings. HERMORION Ltd. Jan. 24, 1963 [Feb. 3, 1962], No. 3112/63. Headings F2A and F2P. A pipe is made by skelping by coating a papercarrier 7 with wax or paraffin or a thermoplastic material 5 and passing the coated layer through a ring 3 electrically heated by a core 6. The ring melts a thin surface layer of the coating to reduce friction and to form an even, tight surface on solidifying. The heat supplied by the ring is controlled to melt only a thin layer of the coating. The coating 5 is applied to the carrier 7 in a semi-melted condition which does not become continuous and tight, as shown on the left in Fig. 2.
