Abstract

982,562. Resilient mountings. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 5, 1961 [May 17, 1960], No. 17365/60. Heading F2S. An anti-vibration mounting for isolating a load comprises an internally-threaded loadsupporting member 12 which is supported within a cup-shaped casing 13 by means of a compression spring 28 and five, equi-angularlyspaced, C-shaped compression springs 26 which are radially compressible to provide a toggle arrangement so that at the datum position, just beyond the dead centre position of the toggles, the reaction of the compressed springs 26 supplies a force which opposes that of the spring 28. The C-shaped springs 26 are pivotally connected at their respective ends to lugs 24 at the ends of a spider 22 riveted to the load-supporting member 12 and to corresponding indentations 27 in the casing 13 the spring 28 being located between retaining cups 29, 30, seated respectively in a nose portion 19 of the supporting member 13 and a corresponding raised portion 31 on the base plate 14. According to the Provisional Specification, the casing may be filled with a resilient foamed plastic material and instead of the cup 30 seating directly upon the casing 11 it may be sealed upon a screw adjustably engaging the casing 11.
