Abstract
982,414. Reciprocating pumps. WEATHERHEAD CO. Aug. 29, 1962, No. 33179/62. Heading F1A. [Also in Division G3] In a swash plate pump in which the inlets 58 to the cylinder bores are controlled by the pistons in the cylinders and in which the cylinder block is axially slidable to vary the effective stroke of the pistons by control means which includes a pressure chamber 112 subjected to pump outlet pressure or connected to exhaust under the control of a servo valve 105, the supply of pressure liquid to the control means is through a tube 135 the bore of which is open to the outlet chamber 17 through a restricted opening 137 the other end being engageable with a member 140 having a bore connected to the servo-valve bore 104. The tube is biased by spring washers 153, 154 to the position in which it does not engage the member 140 so that on starting up the pump the liquid passes through the tube 135 and through outlets 157 to the inlet chamber. As pressure builds up and due to the unequal pressure created by the restriction 137 the tube 135 is forced into engagement with the member 140 whereby the outlet pressure is communicated to the valve bore 104 so that the control means comes into operation to control the output of the pump.
