981,514. Automanc control. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Feb. 28,1963 [March 2,1962(2)], No. 8016/63. Heading G3R. An automatic control system, for an electrode furnace includes an integrating amplifier 12 which is connected to the actuating device 17 through a cyclically operated switch R1. The connected time is a small portion, e.g. 10%, of each cycle and the arrangement provides fast regulation but insensitivity to transients. As shown, the position of electrodes 18 is controlled in response to current or impedance signals e I , the difference between them and a reference being passed through a limiter 11 to the integrator 12; 13 is a relay and 16a feedback loop. The switch R1 is time controlled by cam disc or other means and, where the furnace has three electrodes, switches the integrating circuit to each in turn for the predetermined short period.
