Abstract

A process for blending an elastomer constituent of a latex system with an elastomer constituent of a rubber cement system to produce a blended elastomer coagulum comprises mixing the latex with the cement with agitation to form a pseudo-emulsion, then immediately coagulating both elastomers from the pseudo-emulsion. If desired oil or a carbon black slurry may be added to either or both elastomer components. The process is particularly applicable to compounding natural rubber or SBR with cis-polybutadiene or cispolyisoprene or other stereo-regular elastomer.
