Abstract
980,062. Spray-producers. BALDWIN INSTRUMENT CO. Ltd., and R. W. BAKER. June 6, 1961 [March 7, 1960], No. 8007/60. Heading B2F. Liquid fed through a duct 38 to a chamber 21 is atomized from an orifice 22 by a jet of gas from a nozzle 24 on a tubular member 23 axially adjustable in the chamber by a differential screw arrangement 25. The latter includes an adjustable member 29 with outer and inner threads 32 and 34 respectively engaging threads in the chamber and on the tubular member respectively. The pitch of the threads 32 is less than, e.g. about half, that of the threads 34 and the threads are of the same hand. Rotation of the tubular member is prevented by a key 26 engaging a bearing 28, and rotation of the member 29 produces a fine adjustment of the position of the nozzle 24. The atomizer may be used in combination with baffle chamber means as described in Specification 980,061, and as shown in Fig. 1 the atomized liquid is directed into the first chamber 39 of that apparatus.
