978,332. Thermo-electric devices. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO. Ltd. March 3, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7678/60. Heading H1K. Heat-exchange members 7, 9 to be cooled and heated respectively, are disposed on opposite sides of an assembly of semi-conductor elements 1, 2 of opposite thermo-electric types, arranged in one or more rows in aligned relationship and electrically connected in series by conducting members 3, 4 extending between the opposed surfaces of the elements and also conveying heat from or to members 7, 9. As shown, the members 3, 4 are T-shaped the cross-members 6, 8 being bonded to members 7, 9 by electrical insulation. The rows may be disposed circumferentially round a cylindrical or rectangular cooling chamber or longitudinally of the former. Alternatively a single helical row may surround a cylindrical chamber.
