Abstract

977, 557. Cleaning devices. ABILITY PRODUCTS Ltd. July 3, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No. 13299/62. Heading D1A. A cleaning device comprises a rotatable brush 17 with a rubbing surface 20 mounted within a shield 7 which is displaceable to expose the surface 20 for cleaning an article. The shield 7 which is spring loaded is arranged so that on displacement it actuates a lever 62 to switch on a drive motor 53 which rotates the brush 17 and pumps cleaning liquid from a reservoir 4 up the shaft 25 of the brush and on to the surface 20. The pump comprises a non-rotary ring 36 actuated by eccentric 37 at the lower end of shaft 25 and within a chamber 31. Towards the upper end of shaft 25 is a variable aperture 42 which when opened allows some of the cleaning liquid flowing up the shaft 25 to return directly to the reservoir 4 and so regulate the flow of liquid to the brush 17.
