Abstract

A composition for lubricating cutting tools in use upon hard metals consists of a mixture of white lead powder, raw linseed oil, turpentine, liquefied lard oil and a light mineral lubricating oil. The preferred composition is a paste having a composition as follows: 3-5 parts (by volume) white lead powder. 1-1 1/2 parts raw linseed oil. 1/2 -1 part turpentine. 1 part liquefied lard oil. 1 part light mineral lubricating oil. This paste may be thinned with 2-4 parts of a thinner comprising 12 parts by volume each of turpentine and raw linseed oil mixed with 3-4 parts of heated lard oil.
