Abstract

Liquid washing and bleaching compositions comprise hydrogen peroxide, salts of per-acids or peroxyhydrates with the known acid or acid salt stabilizers and a non-ionic addition product of an alkalene oxide and an organic compound having a labile hydrogen atom which compound is stable to hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution. pH values of 2.5-6 are specified. Non-ionic surface-active adducts referred to are those obtained from ethylene oxide and fatty alcohols, acids, amines, acid amides and acid alkanolamides and mercaptans, alkyl phenols, dihexylcresol, dodecylphenol, decylxylenol and naphthol. Stabilizers specified are phosphoric, pyrophosphoric, polyphosphoric, sulphuric, hydrochloric, oxalic, benzoic, salicylic, citric and tannic acids, aromatic sulphonics acids, e.g. benzyl-sulphonic acid, naphthalene sulphonic acid, toluene or xylene-sulphonic acids and the corresponding disulphonic acids and acid alkali metal salts therof, the alkali metal bisulphates, monosodium phosphates, the acid alkali metal pyrophosphates, sodium metaphosphate and alkali metal polyphosphates in acid solution.ALSO:Liquid washing and bleaching compositions comprise hydrogen peroxide, salts of per-acids or peroxyhydrates with the known acid or acid salt stabilizers and a non-ionic addition product of an alkylene oxide and an organic compound having a labile hydrogen atom which compound is stable to hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solution, pH values of 2.5-6 are specified. Non-ionic surface-active adducts referred to are those obtained from ethylene oxide and fatty alcohols, acids, amines, acid amides and acid alkanolamides and mercaptans, alkyl phenols, dihexylcresol, dodecylphenol, decylxylenol and naphthol. Stabilizers specified are phosphoric, pyrophosphoric, polyphosphoric, sulphuric, hydrochloric, oxalic, benzoic, salicylic, citric and tannic acids, aromatic sulphonics acids, e.g. benzyl-sulphonic acid, naphthalene sulphonic acid, toluene or xylene-sulphonic acids and the corresponding disulphonic acids and acid alkali metal salts thereof, the alkali metal bisulphates, monosodium phosphates, the acid alkali metal pyrophosphates, sodium metaphosphate and alkali metal polyphosphates in acid solution.
