Abstract

In a variable resistor (see Division H1), having a conductive ceramic track, e.g. of the materials disclosed in Specifications 849,305 and 874,768. the ends of the resistive track are joined by a non-conducting ceramic material comprising one of the materials disclosed in the Specifications referred to above made non-conducting by the addition of an inert additive, e.g. tin oxide, zirconium silicate, magnesium oxide, antimony oxide, or ground fired steatite, a typical composition being, in per cent by weight, gold 2.5, platinum 1.67, antimony oxide 1.65 and glass 1 of Specification 849,305 94.18.
