Abstract

Finely divided agglomerates of rubber chemicals are prepared by mixing said chemicals with a binding agent comprising a polyalkyleneglycol or an aliphatic derivative thereof in which at least one of the hydrogen atoms of the terminal hydroxy groups is replaced by an aliphatic group, and forming the mixture into agglomerates. Specified polyalkylene glycol binding agents include polyethylene glycols having a molecular weight of between 1,000 and 6,000, polyalkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers, mono-esters of a polyalkylene glycol with an aliphatic acid, and compounds having two polyalkylene glycol chains linked through an aliphatic diepoxide grouping. The binding agent is preferably present in an amount between 1% and 3% by weight of the dry rubber chemical. Specified rubber chemicals are N-cyclohexyl benzthiazyl-2-sulphenamide, 2-benzthiazyl disulphide, 2-mercaptobenzthiazole, diphenylguanidine, tetramethylthiuram disulphide and polymerized 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline. Additional components which may be present are water and wetting agents such as sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, 3-dodecyl hydrogen sulphate and triethanolamine oleate.
