Abstract

975,822. Endless conveyers. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. July 28, 1961 [Nov. 5, 1960], No. 27467/61. Heading B8A. The state of occupation of an endless conveyer belt 11 by articles 12 is reproduced by signals 15 recorded on a magnetic tape 13 which runs in synchronism with the belt 11. The tape 13 operates in conjunction with semi-conductors of the kind which are responsive to magnetic fields e.g. Hall generators. When an article is fed from a feed conveyer 1 to the belt 11, a recording head B1 is caused to record a signal 15 on the tape 13. Similar heads B2-B8 operate in conjunction with feed conveyers 2-8. If a receiving station for delivery from the belt 11 to a delivery conveyer 3 is not in a position of readiness, a holding head S3 stops the conveyer 11. Monitoring heads F2, F2<SP>1</SP> determine whether a gap is available on the conveyer 11 to permit the delivery of an article from the conveyer 2 to the belt 11. The tape 13 may be carried on a wheel (not shown) which is coupled to the conveyer by an electric reduction drive 14.
