1,262,596. Feeding record tapes. AMPEX CORP. 18 March, 1970 [24 March, 1969], No. 12925/70. Heading G5R. In an automatically loaded tape transport, a cassette 13 is arranged in a holder 14 at the apex of arms 33, 34 so that when vacuum 42 is applied, the tape takes up the position shown, one face of the tape passing over erase head 59, recording heads 53, 52 and around vacuum capstan 51. A further rotary head 63 with associated curved guide 64, which is pivotally mounted to allow the tape access to the head, is provided for video signals. The tape passes over air-lubricated guides 58 and is held at a suitable length in the vacuum columns by sensors 35.
