In a gas-shielded arc welding torch having a welding wire guide tube 18 the exit end of which is surrounded by a gas nozzle 20, the gas, e.g. argon or carbon dioxide, passes through calming chamber 48 before entering the nozzle 20 which is divergent. The torch is for internally welding small tubes and the torch body 12 is fixed on an arm 6 pivoted to a support. The welding wire 70 has considerable curvature before entering the guide tube 18 which is held in a resilient split portion 16 of the body 12 and locked by a screw 72. Gas from an inlet 40 passes through an annular space 44 and radial apertures 46 to the calming chamber 48 which has a restricted outlet 50 to a divergent nozzle 20. A cooling water passage 36 surrounds the nozzle 20. Welding current is supplied through metal braid surrounding one of the cooling water pipes. A branch gas passage 52 supplies shielding gas to the inlet end of the guide tube 18.
