974,380. Spectacle frame hinges. R.RODENSTOCK, [trading as OPTISCHE WERKE G. RODENSTOCKJ. Oct. 4,1962 [Nov. 3,1961; March 23, 1962 (2)], No. 37610/62. Heading G2J. A hinge part for connection to part of a spectacle frame comprises a pin of circular crosssection having at least one hinge eye and includes a head, a neck, and a cover-plate from which project lugs adapted to become embedded in the frame to resist rotation about its axis relative to the frame. As shown, the pin comprises a head 2, a frusto-conical neck 3, a cover-plate 5 having lugs 5<1> arranged diametrically in pairs, a hinge eye 7 with an opening 9 for a hinge pin. The pin is heated and pressed into a cavity in a thermoplastic spectacle frame, the heat causing the thermoplastic to flow behind the head and into contact with the neck, cover-plate, and lugs. In a modification, Fig. 8, the eye is off-set with respect to the axis of the pin, and in a further modification, Fig. 11 (not shown) the eye is formed on a separate plate which may be soldered to the pin.
