Abstract

287,764. Bradford, D. S. July 21, 1927. Spectacles.-In the manufacture of spectacles, more particularly of tortoiseshell &c., the rims or frames c are provided with hinge-carrying projections or lugs b formed integral therewith and extending rearwardly in a plane at rightangles to the plane of the lenses. The lugs are cut out in the same plane as the frame and projecting inwardly. Heat is then applied and they are turned outward into the position shown in Fig. 1. The straps a of the hinges are secured on the inside of the lugs b and sides b<1> and the hinges are provided with stops a' to limit the opening movement of the sides. Several modifications of hinge having this feature are described.
