974,370. Rotary compressors. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV - UND MAS - CHINENFABRIK. May 8, 1962 [May 9, 1961], No. 17703/62. Heading F1F. In a rotary compressor including a housing and covers through which cooling water can circulate, the water jacket of the housing 1, Fig. 2, is subdivided by longitudinal, circumferentially spaced walls 14 each having at least one opening 16, Fig. 3, and with the openings in adjacent walls offset with respect to each other so that the water flows to and fro lengthwise of the housing. Water enters the housing through a port 13, passes clockwise round the housing in the direction of the arrows and leaves through lateral orifices 17 to pass into cavities formed in the end covers (not shown). In a modified construction, the openings 16 through the walls 14 are located alternately at opposite ends of the housing. In a further construction, the jacket is divided into two entirely separate compartments by a transverse wall midway along the length of the housing.
