Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:0973533/C1/1> wherein n is 2 or 3; non-toxic acid addition salts thereof; and their preparation by reacting a corresponding 3-aminoalkyl compound with a compound of formula <FORM:0973533/C1/2> where NX represents an imino group and Y a radical which is easily split off, such as alkylmercapto, alkoxy or a pyrazole radical, or in which X and Y may form together an additional linkage to form a nitrile group. 3-(Aminoalkyl)-6, 9-endoxo-3-azabicyclo-(4,3,0)-nonane starting materials may be obtained by reacting 3, 6-endoxo-hexahydrophthalimide with an appropriate halogenated or unsaturated aliphatic nitrile to form an N-cyanoalkyl-3, 6-endoxohexahydrophthalimide which is then reduced with lithium aluminium hydride.
