Abstract

973,342. Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure. GILLETTE CO. Dec. 2, 1960 [Dec. 9, 1959], No. 41524/60. Heading FIR. An aerosol container for dispensing heated quantities of a liquid, e.g. a foam-type shaving cream, comprises a chamber 12 of sheet metal mounted in the neck of a conventional container 10 and heatable, for example, by the external application of hot water or air. When a discharge valve 23 is opened by depressing or tilting a member 25, aerosol liquid from container 10 enters chamber 12 via a dip tube 15 and a baffle plate 16 and displaces the heated contents of the chamber through a nozzle 26. To improve heat distribution, chamber 12 is partially filled with metallic wool 27 and may also be provided with external or internal fins. Several alternative baffle constructions may be employed to direct the incoming flow of aerosol on to the heated walls of chamber 12.
