Abstract

A device for the adjustment of a component by a small amount comprises a seating elastically but relatively stiffly mounted and connected through a force-transmitting coupling to a lever pivoted about a fixed axis and carrying an adjustable weight. As shown, a mirror 4 is mounted on a seating comprising a shaft 5 with a shoulder 6 having a securing plate 7 for the mirror, the seating being rigidly secured to a bracket on a baseplate 1. Two cords 9, 10 are secured to the seating, the cord 9 laterally of the shaft and the cord 10 vertically above the shaft, are passed over rollers 11, 12, and are connected to the ends of two levers 13, 14 the other ends of which are pivoted at 15, 16. Weights 17, 18 are movable along the levers by means of forks 19, 20 operated by cables 21, 22, the forks having sufficient play to allow them to be moved into a position in which they are not in contact with the weights. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown) the rods are pivoted at a point intermediate their length and in a further embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) the cords are attached directly to the rods without the interposition of rollers.
