Abstract

972, 843. Electronic binary half adders. MULLARD Ltd. Aug. 14, 1962 [Oct. 31, 1961; Dec.11, 1961],Nos.38911/61 and 44234/61. Heading G4A. [Also in Division H3] The "exclusive OR" circuit of Specification 887,933, is modified by the addition of a pair of catching diodes D1, D2 as described in Specification 970,549 and is combined with an AND circuit to form a half adder of the type described in Specification 895,909. The catching diodes permit faster operation and also provide additional current paths in parallel with the AND circuit T3, T4 so that the carry output may be reduced from two units to a more convenient value, adjustment of the value being made by means of resistors R5, R6. The D.C. potential to which the diodes are connected may be either a potential + V d as shown, Fig. 2, or may be earthed, Fig. 1 (not shown).
