Abstract

972,461. Drawing compasses. W. J. HARRIS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Oct. 9, 1963 [April 2, 1963], No. 12919/63. Heading B6P. In the drawing-compass, Fig. 1, the holder 17 for the pencil is provided with a clamping nut 25, Fig. 3, situated between the leg 10 and the pencil 18. The holder, circular in crosssection, is threaded from a point adjacent the leg 90 to a point mid-way between inner wall 24 and the outer wall 28 of the pencil receiving hole 23. The nut 25 is prevented from being removed from the holder 17 since the diameter of the outer plain portion 17 is equal to the major diameter of the screw-threads. The socket 20 in the inner portion 21 of the holder which receives a spigot 22 formed on the leg 10 is of square or other angular cross-section to prevent relative rotation of the leg and the holder.
