Abstract

A flame-retardant composition comprises 10.0-70.0% chlorinated polyethylene containing 40% of chlorine, 0.5-10% of butyl rubber, chlorosulphonated polyethylene or polyisobutylene, and the remainder a homopolymer of an aliphatic alpha-mono-olefine, e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene. Pigment, e.g. carbon black, or a red or blue dye may be added. The composition may be used as an insulant for electric cables, or as a pipe or moulded article.
