971,582. Cartons. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. Nov. 9, 1962, No. 42507/62. Heading B8P. A carton end closure comprises an outer closure flap 13, having an area equal to that of the end of the carton, an inner closure flap 14, and end flaps 10, 11 all hinged to sides of the carton and arranged so that the inner closure flap 14 overlies end portions of the flaps 10, 11 and has two opposite edges 16, 17 each forming an acute angle with the hinged edge 15, the closure being completed by heat-sealing the outer closure flap 13 to the other flaps. The edges 18 of the end flaps 10, 11 are of the same length as the hinged edges 12, and the acute angles formed between the edges 16, 17 and hinged edge 15 are preferably each about 30 degrees. The tubular carton is made from the blank of Fig. 1 by securing flap 8 to side 1 by adhesive or heat-sealing.
