Abstract
971, 556. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Feb. 13, 1962 [March 1, 1961], No. 5485/62. Heading G3P. A fluid-pressure servomotor system comprises two power devices 13, 14 in the form of flexible tubes or hoses secured at one end by couplings 15 to a control valve casing and at the other end to a member 12 which is to be positioned. Alternatively the tubes may be in axial alignment with adjacent ends connected to the member to be positioned. A control valve 21 admits fluid-pressure to one of the tubes causing it to expand radially and shorten in length and opens the other to exhaust whereby the member 12 is rotated. The tubes may be of rubber surrounded by steel braid. As shown, the tubes control an airfoil 10 in response to an electrical signal fed through an amplifier 28 to a motor 26, a feedback being provided from a member 29, such as a potentiometer.
