Abstract

970,419. Casting kerbs and pipes in situ. A. H. CHENEY. Dec. 6, 1960 [Dec. 11, 1959], No. 42012/60. Heading E1S. Concrete kerbs and pipes are laid by a wheeled machine the forward motion of which to leave the kerbs &c. in position, is controlled by the pressure in the concrete being laid. The track wheels 30 of the machine are driven by a motor 26 the throttle of which is controlled by a slave cylinder 17 and controlled by a master cylinder 16 connected to parallel pivoted links 12 supporting the motor driven worm 5 which drives the concrete through a former 2 which forms the kerb &c. The piston of the slave cylinder 17 is loaded by a spring 20 to maintain a pressure of 60 1bs. to the square inch on the worm 5. The motor 26 is hydraulic and driven by fluid by-passed from the circuit of a pump 27. Modifications of the control of the motor 26 by the worm 5 are described. Specification 837,714 is referred to.
