Abstract

1,044,851. Hydraulic power system for an excavator. SOC. ANON. AUXITRA. April 12, 1965 [April 14, 1964], No. 15580/65. Heading E1 F. An hydraulic system for an excavator, e.g. a drag shovel excavator, involves a prime mover driving two pumps, each pump supplying pressurizsd liquid to a valve block by which may be controlled the associated of two motors driving the crawler tracks of the excavator. The first of said pumps may also supply hydraulic power through a third valve block to a motor for slewing the excavator superstructure relative to the crawler-mounted base of the excavator, this power preferably being supplied to the third block through the first block in all settings thereof. The second pump may also supply hydraulic power through a further three valved block to piston cylinder units controlling movement of the boom, dipper stick and tool of the excavator, this power preferably being supplied to the three valves through the second block in all settings thereof. Means are also provided in the system for when hydraulic power is not being supplied from the third block to the superstructureslewing motor of supplying power then available from the first pump to the three valved block.
