Abstract

617,122. Hydraulic power devices. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and BRERETON, C. F. Aug. 19, 1946, No. 24632. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] Hydraulic power apparatus for imparting intermittent movement to a body 1 comprises two separate hydraulically-driven units A, B connected through gear trains 6, 4 and 5, 7 and an annulus 3 to the body 1. The unit A comprises fixed rams 20, 20a and small diameter fixed rams 21, 21a having sliding cylinder blocks 13, 14 mounted thereon. The small diameter ram cylinders are supplied with constant pressure liquid and maintain the cylinder blocks, when inoperative, against a fixed stop 17. The large ram cylinders are connected alternatively to pressure or exhaust by means of a control valve 40. The cylinder blocks 13, 14 carry a sliding rack 8 meshing with the gear-wheel 6 and having an abutment 8a between the cylinder blocks. The unit B comprises intermediate diameter rams 29, 30 carrying cylinder blocks 27, 28 and having a fixed stop 34 between the blocks which carry a sliding rack 9 meshing with the gear-wheel 7 and which has an abutment 9a between the cylinders. The ram cylinders are constantly supplied with pressure liquid. The units A, B may be moved to alter the direction of movement of the body 1 or the abutments 17, 34 may be adjustable.
