Abstract

970,241. Brush holders for dynamo-electric machines. CANADIAN GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 31, 1963 [July 31, 1962], No. 30413/63. Heading H2A. A brush holder for a dynamo-electric machine comprises at least one brush-receiving channel, 10, and includes a hairpin-shaped spring holder 20 having one leg 18 adapted for insertion in a spring-receiving channel 14, formed in a side wall of the brush-receiving channel and which has secured to it a constant-tension spring 16 arranged to engage the brush, the other leg 19 of the spring holder 20 having a hooked end portion 21 for engaging a first retaining member 35 located relatively near the collector end of the brush to lock the spring holder in position and in a withdrawn position of the spring holder 20 a second retaining member 56 located at the other end of the brush holder and permitting the spring holder to be held captive in the withdrawn position. The brush holder is secured to the machine by a shank 24 having a slot 36 for receiving a bolt.
