Abstract

1,107,371. Mineral-mining pick holders; stud and socket fastenings. MATTHIAS SPENCER & SONS Ltd. 9 March, 1965 [11 March, 1964; 17 Sept., 1964], Nos. 10199/64 and 37957/64. Headings E1F and E2B. A tool holder for retaining a tool, such as a mineral-mining pick, has a transverse bore crossing and breaking into a tool shank-receiving socket formed in the holder. Into the bore is inserted endwise a retaining member and a resilient member to lie side by side in the bore so that the resilient member urges the retaining member sideways so that at least part of the retaining member projects into the socket to engage and locate the tool therein when the tool is entered into the socket. Five preferred embodiments are described in detail.
